Frequently Asked Questions

Does my rental come with a bicycle helmet?

We provide a helmet at no charge.

Why are there three options for getting my rental bike?

We are flexible to your preferences and needs! Feel free to contact us with any additional questions regarding pick up!

Is riding a bicycle in Toronto safe?

Please follow road signals and abide by the Highway Traffic Act; for more information, visit: https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/streets-parking-transportation/cycling-in-toronto/cycling-and-the-law/

Use your bell when needed, always have your front and rear lights in the dark, and please wear a helmet for your safety.

Toronto has come a long way in the way of bicycle infrastructure, including various lanes, etc.  For more info about Toronto bike lanes, etc., please visit: https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/streets-parking-transportation/cycling-in-toronto/torontos-cycling-infrastructure/.  With the addition of many bike lanes, riding in Toronto has become safer.  Like any large city / urban environment like Toronto, riding a bicycle involves risks.

What happens if my bike rental is stolen?

Yoru rental comes with an ABUS or Kryptonite lock; these are the best locks on the market.  ALWAYS lock your bike when you are not riding it.  We recommend bringing your bike inside overnight.  If your bike is stolen, you will lose your deposit fee $150 and up.  For our premium bikes, the “stolen/lost bike” charge will be confirmed at the time of rental (more than $500).

What happens if I get a flat (tire)?

We have made efforts to outfit most bikes with puncture proof tires.  Given that the city is a construction zone, punctures can still happen.  Please contact us right away and we will help with replacing it.  You are also free to visit a local bike shop and pay for the repair.  Most bike shops can turnaround a flat tire repair in an hour or two.

How old / new are the bikes?

All of our bikes are Made in Holland.  They range in terms of how old they are; some can be considered ‘vintage’, while others are nearly new.  Each bike has been tuned up and safety inspected.

Is riding a heavy steel bike in Toronto possible (in terms of how steep it is)

Yes, Dutch bikes are heavy!  This is exactly why they are safe and durable, especially for riding with children and riding up right (for great visibility - again, safety!).  Thankfully downtown Toronto is relatively flat.  Going east to west is very flat.  North / south is relatively flat and only becomes challenging north of Dupont or so.  All to say that if you are staying on St. Clair, Eglinton, or even further north, you may want to consider an 8 speed rental or at least 3 speed.  For those who are staying downtown, you can rent any bike!
